Additional Cast ‘Thick Sheet’
The steel construction is regarded as a self-supporting structural component and calculated without consideration of the cross-section of the concrete and designed, for example, to resist fatigue. The concrete is used solely to add weight and for adjustments with respect to the eigenfrequency, as well as for damping vibrations. A bonding course must be provided to ensure the bond, depending on the loading and the quality of the surfaces.
Effective Sandwich Construction ‘Thin Sheet’
The steel construction is calculated as a hybrid construction with a thickness of 5 mm to 8 mm. Interaction between concrete and structural steel requires a secure and durable bond, based on a mechanical effect. This can, e.g., be achieved through toothed rails, rail blades or similar means. A cost-efficient composite action can be established via head stud dowels. In this way a complete or a flexible bond can be achieved.

Cement-bound concrete is a durable material that has been time-tested for centuries. Less energy is consumed for its manufacture and less CO2 emitted than in the production of reaction resin concrete (mineral cast), steel or cast iron. No surface treatment as sandblasting or a bond bridge with epoxy resin is required. No solvents are required for casting, the fresh but not yet set material is cleaned with water. Not used, hardened material may be disposed of in landfill or in road construction.
